Increasing the number and pace of innovations that are translated into commercial products is at the heart of the bioscience initiative launched by the state in 2018.
As major sources of innovation, universities play an essential role in this effort. To help deliver on this promise, Iowa State University (ISU), in partnership with Iowa Innovation Corporation (IICorp), recently launched competitive seed grant programs in the Biobased Products/Chemicals and Vaccine & Immunotherpeutics platforms.
These programs specifically target projects believed to have strong commercial potential involving university-industry partnerships.
Four projects in the Biobased Products/Chemicals platform and two in the Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics platform were selected for funding in late 2019 (read the ISU press release here) with a third Vaccines and Immunotherapeutics award made in 2020.

IICorp looks forward to working with ISU to expand such programs during the 2021 fiscal year.
